Designing a Practical Task in Moodle

gideonwilliams‘s insight:

We wanted to create an activity on Moodle that students could follow when doing a practical task rather than simply have a blank. It was also a challenge to those who kept saying what about practical subjects on Moodle etc etc.

The design is a label made up of a table with various cells marged. The CADR icons on the left handside represent our 4 form approach to lessons. I designed them to look a little like elements on the periodic table. The top left icon is the Science icon on the navigation menu (not quite right yet).

The features for each section represent our attempts to created a personalised model of learning with a range of (higher order thinking) activities. The text gives a brief explanation of the task but students actually click on the icons to download/view the tasks.

The design elements could be a bit better but limited by my expertise and Moodle’s text editor.
